Draft — pending legal review. This is a working draft. A lawyer will review it before ChaiPe launches, and the final text may change.
Effective date: 2026-10-05
ChaiPe is built on one simple idea: a first date over chai, with real people who are kind to each other. These guidelines explain what that means in practice. They are part of our Terms of Use, and you agree to them before you create a profile. They apply to everything on ChaiPe (profiles, photos, likes, comments, Chai Invites and chats) and to how you treat people you meet through ChaiPe.

Be real#
- One person, one account. Do not make extra or fake accounts.
- Be yourself. Use your real first name, your real age and your own photos. Never pretend to be someone else, a celebrity, or a made-up person.
- Be honest about what you want. Pick the intent that is true for you: serious, open, casual or dosti.
- No bots. Accounts must be run by the real person they show. No automated or AI-run accounts.
- No AI or edited fakes. Do not use AI-generated images of a person who is not you, deepfakes or morphed photos. Light editing (cropping, brightness) is fine. Changing how your face or body really looks is not.
Photos#
- Add 2 to 6 photos. Your first photo must clearly show your face.
- All photos must be of you, and recent.
- No nudity, underwear-only photos or sexually suggestive poses.
- No photos of children, even your own. This protects them.
- No photos that show violence, weapons, drugs or hate symbols.
- No phone numbers, social media handles, links, QR codes or watermarks in photos.
- No photos of other people without their permission. Group photos are fine as long as it is clear which one is you.
- Every photo is checked before others can see it. We may reject photos that break these rules.
Be respectful#
- Treat people the way you want to be treated. Rejection is part of dating, so take a "no" or no reply gracefully.
- No harassment or bullying. No insults, body shaming, repeated unwanted messages or pressure.
- No hate. No attacks or slurs about anyone's caste, religion, gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, region, language, disability or appearance.
- No threats or intimidation, ever, including "jokes".
- Respect privacy. Do not share anyone's messages, photos or personal details outside ChaiPe without their permission.
- Respect boundaries. Do not push someone to share their number, social media, location or photos before they are ready.
Consent and sexual content#
- ChaiPe is not a hookup app. Keep your profile, prompts and opening messages free of sexual content.
- Never send sexual messages, photos or requests to someone who has not clearly agreed. Consent can be withdrawn at any time.
- Never share intimate images of anyone without their consent, and never threaten to. This is a crime in India. We act on complaints about intimate images within 2 hours.
- No sex for money. No escort services, prostitution, "sugar dating", or any paid or transactional relationship. Do not offer or ask for sex in return for money, gifts or favours.
- No pornography or links to it.
No scams and no money requests#
- Never ask anyone for money, gifts, mobile recharges, loans, OTPs, bank, card or UPI details, or help with a "payment problem".
- No investment pitches. No trading, crypto, forex, "guaranteed returns" or multi-level marketing schemes.
- No fake emergencies, sob stories or "parcel stuck at customs" stories.
- No selling of anything, including followers, services or products.
- In the early part of a chat, ChaiPe warns about phone numbers, UPI IDs, links and common scam words. If someone tries to move you off ChaiPe quickly or asks for money, report them.
Keep each other safe#
- No stalking. Do not try to find out where someone lives or works, follow them, or use ChaiPe features to work out their location.
- No violence, and no promotion of violence, self-harm, weapons or illegal drugs.
- No recording or sharing of calls, chats or meetings without permission.
- If someone tells you they are thinking of harming themselves, encourage them to get help (in India you can call Tele-MANAS on 14416) and tell us. In an emergency, call 112.
- Read our Safety Tips before you meet anyone.
Adults only#
- ChaiPe is for people aged 18 or over. If you think someone is under 18, report them. The account is suspended straight away while we check.
- Zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. Any content or behaviour that sexualises, grooms, exploits or endangers a child leads to an immediate permanent ban, preservation of evidence and a report to the police. See our Child Safety Standards.
No promotion or spam#
- ChaiPe is for personal dating and friendship only.
- No advertising, promotion, recruiting, fundraising or political campaigning.
- No copy-paste messages to many people, chain messages or links to other apps or sites.
- No bots, scripts or scraping.
Chai Invite etiquette#
Chai Invites let you send a short message before matching, only to people who chose to receive them.
- Keep it friendly, specific and short. Say why their profile made you smile.
- No contact details, links, social media handles or UPI IDs. They are removed anyway.
- No sexual or pushy messages.
- If someone declines, that is final. You cannot send them another Invite.
- If an Invite is reported, your Invites stop while we review it, and stop permanently if we confirm a violation.
Behaviour off ChaiPe#
These guidelines also cover how you treat people you met on ChaiPe, on other apps and in person. We may act on reports of harassment, violence, threats or other serious misconduct that happens off ChaiPe, including at a date.
Nothing illegal#
Do not use ChaiPe to break any Indian law, or to share anything that the IT Rules, 2021 prohibit. Our Terms of Use list these in full.
Reporting and blocking#
- Report and Block are on every profile and every chat, and they are always free.
- Choose the reason that fits best, for example: fake profile or scam; asking for money; sexual harassment or unwanted sexual content; nudity; may be under 18; child safety concern; impersonation or using my photos; threats or violence; something that happened on a date; spam or promotion; hate or abuse; or something else.
- When you report someone, we keep a copy of the reported profile, photos and chat as evidence, even if you unmatch. The person is not told who reported them.
- Blocking means the person can no longer see you or message you.
- You can also report by email to grievance@chaipe.app, or through our grievance page.
How fast we act. Reports about a possible minor, intimate images, impersonation or threats hide the content or profile straight away, and we aim to review them within 2 hours. We aim to review money and scam reports within 12 hours, and other reports within 24 hours. Requests to remove content are always handled within 36 hours.
What happens when rules are broken#
Depending on how serious it is, we may:
- remove a photo, prompt, comment or message;
- send you a warning;
- limit features, for example stop your Chai Invites or likes for a while;
- hide your profile while we review it;
- suspend your account for a period;
- ban your account permanently, and block the device used for it from creating new accounts.
Serious violations lead to a permanent ban as soon as a person on our team confirms them; until then the profile is hidden. These include anything involving minors, sharing intimate images without consent, threats or violence, scams and extortion, sex for money, and impersonation. We may also report them to the police. If you are banned for a serious violation, you lose any remaining paid time and credits (see our Refund Policy).
We also act against false reports. Reporting people in bad faith, or organising others to mass-report someone, can lead to action against the reporter. Reports are weighed by their quality, not just their number.
Appeals#
If we removed your content or restricted your account and you think we got it wrong:
- appeal from the notice in the app, or write to grievance@chaipe.app;
- tell us what happened and why you think the decision was wrong;
- a person reviews every appeal against a permanent ban;
- if we overturn a ban, we restore your account, refund unused paid time pro-rata and give back your credits.
If you are still not satisfied, you can follow our Grievance Policy, including the appeal to the Grievance Appellate Committee at gac.gov.in.
