Delete your ChaiPe account

You can delete your account at any time: in the app, or with the form on this page if you can't get into the app.

Have ChaiPe Plus or Kulhad? Deleting your account does not cancel your Google Play subscription. Cancel it first in the Google Play app (your profile picture › Payments and subscriptions › Subscriptions › ChaiPe › Cancel subscription), or Google may keep charging you.

1 In the app (fastest)

  1. Open ChaiPe.
  2. Go to Settings › Account › Delete account.
  3. Confirm. If you still have an active subscription, the app shows it and links you to Google Play to cancel it.

Your profile disappears for everyone straight away. Deleting an account cannot be undone; if you come back later, you start a new account.

2 Request on the web

Can't open the app, or don't have your phone any more? Send us a request with the email address or phone number linked to your ChaiPe account. Before deleting anything we check that the account is really yours, usually with a confirmation email.

What happens when you delete

Deleted

  • Straight away: your profile disappears for everyone, you are signed out on every device, and your approximate location is deleted.
  • Then: your photos, prompts, preferences, likes, matches, chats and notification tokens are deleted from our live systems. Your messages stop being visible to the people you chatted with.
  • Your selfie-verification data, including any face template, is deleted.
  • Copies inside our encrypted backups expire on a rolling schedule.

Kept for a limited time

Indian law, and keeping banned people off ChaiPe, require us to keep a little data after you leave:

  • Registration information (such as name, date of birth, phone number, email, login IDs, and IP and device records): 180 days in restricted storage, as Rule 3(1)(h) of India's IT Rules requires. Then deleted.
  • Reported content and evidence: 180 days from the report or removal; longer only if a police investigation, court order or legal claim requires it.
  • Security logs (sign-in, access, moderation): at least one year, then deleted on a rolling basis.
  • Ban records, if the account was banned, for as long as the ban applies.
  • Purchase and tax records: as long as GST and income-tax laws require (currently up to about 8 years).

Unused credits (such as Chai Invites) are lost when you delete your account. Exact details are in our Privacy Policy.

Just need a break? You can hide or snooze your profile in Settings instead, and come back whenever you like.
